Health Explorer: VR & WebGL Anatomy Lab
Health Explorer is a comprehensive “Digital Cadaver” platform designed to replace traditional dissection labs. Utilizing the advanced rendering capabilities of Unity, we have created a medically accurate, volumetrically rendered human body that students can dissect layer-by-layer in immersive Virtual Reality or standard web browsers.
The Digital Cadaver
Physical cadavers are scarce, expensive, and degrade over time. Health Explorer offers an infinite, non-destructive learning resource where anatomy can be reset with a click, allowing for unlimited practice and exploration.
Challenge & Solution
The Challenge: Medical education is facing a crisis of access. Developing nations and smaller institutions cannot afford maintaining wet labs for cadaver dissection. Furthermore, 2D textbooks fail to convey the complex spatial relationships between organs, nerves, and vasculature, leading to a steep learning curve for first-year students.
The Solution: We engineered Health Explorer, a cross-platform anatomical engine.
Volumetric Immersion
In VR, students use natural hand gestures to peel back layers of muscle, isolate organs, and “step inside” the human heart. The simulation supports 8K textures, allowing for microscopic inspection of tissue structures.
Interactions:
- Grab-and-expand organ isolation
- “X-Ray Vision” mode for skeletal alignment
- Spatial audio labels for pronunciation guides
Final Result
Health Explorer has democratized high-level medical education, bridging the gap between elite universities and remote learning centers.
20M+ Structures
The simulation contains over 20 million individual polygons, representing the most detailed real-time anatomical model currently available on the web.
90% Cost Reduction
Institutions utilizing Health Explorer reduced their wet lab operational costs by 90% while doubling the amount of dissection hours available to students.
Global Adoption
Currently licensed by over 50 medical schools across 12 countries, bringing standardized anatomical education to thousands of students.
Health Explorer proves that the future of biology is digital, sustainable, and universally accessible.
